Terrible nouvelle dans le monde du hockey alors que l'on apprend que le gardien de but Adam Svoboda, originaire de la République Tchèque, se serait enlevé la vie à l'âge de 41 ans seulement.

Selon ce que rapporte le Complete Hockey News et la IIHF, le corps de l'homme a été retrouvé sans vie dans sa résidence plus tôt cette semaine.

Svoboda a joué 21 saisons au hockey professionnel, remportant au passage une médaille d'or en 2005 ainsi qu'une médaille d'argent en 2006 aux Championnats du Monde.

"We regret to announce the passing of Adam Svoboda at the age of 41 from an apparent suicide. 

Svoboda played 21 professional seasons with HC Sparta Praha, LTC Pardubice, the Nürnberg Ice Tigers, Lada Togliatti, Timrå IK, Avangard Omsk, HC Plzen, HK Hradec Kralove and Beibarys Atyrau.

Internationally Svoboda represented the Czech Republic ?? on a number of occasions, winning gold at the 2005 World Championships and Silver at the 2006 World Championships."

According to information published by the police he committed suicide. His body was found dead at his residence in the Pardubice region without any outside influence.

Svoboda played 21 years of professional ice hockey, mostly in his country for Sparta Prague, Pardubice, Slavia Prague, Plzen and Hradec Kralove in the top league as well as stints in Germany (Nuremberg), Russia (Togliatti, Omsk), Sweden (Timra) and in his last season 2016/2017 in Kazakhstan for Beibarys Atyrau. With Slavia Prague in 2008 and with Plzen in 2013 he won two Czech championships.

Internationally he represented the Czechs at two World Junior Championships and one U18 European Championship. He played for the men’s national team for many years and had 41 international games but didn’t play a game in the four World Championships he was on the roster including the gold-winning team in 2005.

This season he worked as goaltending coach for his former club team Dynamo Pardubice and earlier with the Czech Ice Hockey Association.
